About the GT-108

The GT-108 is a discrete version of the GT-102. It is well optimized for driving 8 Ohm speakers, producing 50-60 Watts per channel of great sound into 8 Ohm loads. The GT-108 came about because Texas Instruments (TI), the sole source of the power amplifier IC used in the GT-102 and the Z4, won't deliver the needed IC for at least a year. It's yet another casualty of the Covid calamity.

A discrete version of the amplifier does have some advantages. The design has been customized to have better bandwidth and lower distortion than the original GT-102. Whether this improvement is audible is up for debate, as both amps are really good. It does make the build process longer, so if you plan to build the kit, plan on it taking a few hours more than the GT-102 or Z4.

A User Testimonial

"Completed the GT-108 and all went according to your excellent Assembly Manual, which is reminiscent of the old Dynaco and Heath kit manuals. Very well done indeed. Particularly enjoyed the Theory of Operation section.

More importantly is how excellent the GT-108 sounds. It is dead-quiet through my Cornwall III's. The improvement to the clarity and richness of the sound, compared to my Yamaha R-S500 receiver's PA section, was impressive, like getting brand new eyeglasses. You might be interested to know that my preamp and source include a Schiit SAGA S preamp and MANI phono preamp, Pro-Jext Debut EVO turntable with a Nagaoka MP-200 cartridge. The system sounds just fantastic now, thanks to your GT-108.

Best Regards

Here's the Manual

You can download the GT-108 Assembly manual. Read it over, check out the schematics and the build process.

This is the manual for kits shipped IN or AFTER June of 2023. You can download the CURRENT manual. We've tweaked the PCB's to accomodate some parts with a different footprint, but otherwise, it's still the same great amplifier.
